Question Details:
I have a word problem that I am stuck on. The peremiter if a rectangular backyard is 6x+6 yards. If the width is x yards find a binomial that represents the length. So far I have everything but the binomial:
p=2(1+x)
6x+6=2(l+x)
I have no idea what the binomail could be to represent the length. Please help.

Response Details:
Take the second equation you have, and solve for L like so.
6x+6=2(L+x)
6x+6=2L+2x                  (Multiply through by the 2)
6x+6-2x=2L+2x-2x       (Subtract 2x from both sides)
4x+6=2L                        (Add like terms)
2x+3=L                          (Divide both sides by 2)
So you get the binomial:
L=2x+3
Please rate all my answers! Thanks! Oh, and make sure that you check my numbers quickly, because although I check my answers multiple times, everybody makes typos.
