Sarah tried to solve the equation -4x + y = 20 by adding 4 to both sides. He wrote 4 – 4x + y = 4 + 20 which then changed to 0x + y = 24 and finally y = 24. How would you help Sarah?

Clarification Details:
I'm guessing you already know that it is wrong because 4-4x does not equal 0x.

I'm also assuming that you're supposed to be finding the y = mx + b expression?
So...
-4x + y = 20
y = 4x + 20
y-int:
y = 4(0) + 20
y = 20
x-int:
0 = 4x + 20
-4x = 20
x = -5
