Remember that when two factors are multiplied you set them individually equal to 0 and solve.
You are probably more familiar with something like (x-4)(x - 3) = 0. This is just a more advanced case of that.

So you will want to solve
x2- 2x + 6 = 0
and
x2 + 2x - 6 = 0

Use quadratic formula to solve the first one (imaginary solutions):
x = =

Use quadratic formula to solve the second one:
x = =

Rules of Thumbs for New Posters:
1. Post the complete question. Never just ask: How do you do problem 10 in Stewart? or you will not get help.
2. Don't post multiple questions in one post. Only exception: Followup posts to clarify the original question or to understand answers.
3. Always rate. Rate the best answer. This may not always be the answer given by the first poster. Do not give good karma to posts that give only answers w/o explanations. Note that even posts that are unrelated to the questions must be rated, even if it is N/A, or they will affect your respect score.
4. Cutting & pasting solutions of other posters is karma point abuse. Work to maintain board integrity!
