How do you find a formula for the inverse of the function.
f(x) = 8x-1/2x+7
 y=   f(x) =( 8x-1) / (2x+7)
y.(2x+7)  =  8x-1
 2xy +7y  = 8x  -1
2xy -8x  =  -1 -7y
 x ( 2y-8)  = -( 1+7y)
 x=  -( 1+7y)  /   ( 2y-8)
 f -1( x)= = -( 1+7x)  /   ( 2x-8)

\begin{align*}
&
y = f( x ) = \frac{8x - 1}{2x + 7}
\\\\&
\text{Switch \textit{x} and \textit{y}, then solve for \textit{y}:}\\\\&
\end{align*}

\begin{align*}
&
x = \frac{8y - 1}{2y + 7}
&\Rightarrow\\\\&
x( 2y + 7 ) = 8y -1
&\Rightarrow\\\\&
2xy + 7x - 8y + 1 = 0
&\Rightarrow\\\\&
( 2x - 8 )y = -(7x + 1) &\Rightarrow\\\\&
y = -\frac{7x + 1}{ 2x - 8} &\Rightarrow\\\\&
f^{-1}(x) = -\frac{7x + 1}{ 2x - 8}
\end{align*}
