let the width be x, and heigh be h
we have: Aear A0 = xh=172
=>h = 172/x

the printing area is: A = (x-2*3)*(h-2*3) = (x-6)((172/x - 6) = 172-6x-1032/x +36=-6x-1032/x + 208

A' = -6 + 1032/x2
let A' = 0, =>-6 + 1032/x2 = 0
=>x = √(1032/6) = 13.115 in
answer:
width : 13.115 in
heigh: 13.115 in
h = 172/x = 13.115 in
