Question Details:
Three linear elastic coil springs are symmetrically arranged as shown below. For the two identical springs on the outside, the stiffness coefficient is equal to k, whereas the spring in the middle has a stiffness coefficient equal to 2k. The system is initially subjected to an external force P0, of which 40% is carried by the spring in the middle while the balance is carried equally by the outside springs. Subsequently, the external force was increased to P. Compute: a) the new values fo the spring forces b) the toal deformation energy stored in the system.
