Yes of course....
hot air or any other fluid can be used as a heat reservoir...
But the thing is .......fluids having large specific heat capacity , cheap availbility...and other factors ...
decide the fluid to be used...!!!
hence air having a very small heat capacity......isnt used for the purpose!!
