Question Details:
Given: 2 boards of height H= 75 mm and width w= 200m, stacked on one another each with width sides of 200 mm. A rectangular steel yoke of height h and width 210 mm is placed around the boards as shown below. (the shaded in part) The coefficient of friction between the board surfaces and b/t the board surfaces an steel yoke, μs= 0.3 Tensile loads of magnitude P= 800 N along the length of the boards are applied to opposite ends of the two boards, causing the yoke to engage. This force is just sufficient to cause impending slip at all contact surfaces (b/t the 2 boards and b/t each board and the steel yoke)
FIND: the yoke height h and the normal force b/t the 2 boards when the load P is applied
Given:
board height H=75 mm
board width w=200mm
width sides= 200mm
yoke width= 210 mm
μs= 0.3 (b/t the boards and b/t the boards n yoke)
P= 800 N
I'm so stuck on this..if you know anything about this problem at all, please any help yould be amazing!!
