A 20μF (C1) and 40μF (C2 ) capacitor are connected in parallel to a 480 V, 60 Hz source. Determine:
A) inductive reactance and current flow through C1
B) inductive reactance and current flow through C2

it is given here,
Vin=480 V
f=60 Hz
C1=20 μF
C2=40 μF

impedance Z1=-=-j[1/2π60*20*10-6]=-j132.7 Ω
Reactance X1=-132.7Ω

current thru C1=V/Z1=480/-j132.7 =-3.61/j = j3.61 A

X1=-132.7 Ω
I1=j3.61 A


B) impedance of C2 ie Z2=-j/2πfC2 =-j[1/2π60*40*10-6]=-j66.35 Ω
Reactance X2=-66.35Ω
current thru C2=V/Z2=480/-j66.35 =-7.22/j =j7.22 A

X1=-66.35Ω
I1=j7.22 A
