Question Details:

 Steam at 0.5 MPa and 300 °C flows through a throttling valve at a mass flow rate of 100  kg/h and exits at a pressure of 0.1 MPa.  Because the valve is not insulated, heat is lost at the rate of  70,000 kJ/hr.  The air temperature surrounding the valve is 20 °C. 

Find 

(a) the outlet stream temperature 

(b)  the phase of the outlet stream.  If the stream is a two-phase mixture, calculate the quality. 

(c)  the entropy generation.
