Chapter 9 Problem 73- Area?

Question Details:
   The Length of a tube is 0.1 m. The Cross sectional Area of a tube is 5.0 cm^2. How from these numbers do you find that the area is 6.0*10^-4?

Clarification Details:
The problem converts the cross sectional area A of the tube from 5.0 cm^2 to 6.0e-4 m^4. How and why does this conversion take place to find the diffusion rate using Fick's law?
