PASADENA, Calif., July 12, 2009 – Online study community Cramster.com announced today the launch of the Cramster.com Academic Advisory Committee with charter members Associate Dean of Pace University, David Sachs, and renowned educational psychologist, John Sweller. The committee will guide Cramster's efforts to provide enriching academic content and will solidify Cramster.com's status as the leading online study community.
"With the help of the Academic Advisory Committee, Cramster will become an even more powerful study community and move closer to revolutionizing the way students and educators connect and collaborate," said Cramster.com Co-Founder and President, Rob Angarita.
David Sachs is Associate Dean of Pace University's School of Computer Science and Information Systems, where he is also a Professor of Technology Systems, advising educators and administrators on how to effectively incorporate technology in the classroom. Sachs' extensive experience with the development of asynchronous learning models makes him a natural fit for the Academic Advisory Committee.
John Sweller is a leading researcher and prominent figure in the field of Educational Psychology. Sweller is credited with the theory of cognitive load, which highlights the limitations of working memory, specifically in relation to academic instruction. Sweller is Professor Emeritus at the School of Education, University of New South Wales, and is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.
"We could not be more pleased to work with these insightful people — each is a leader in his field," Angarita said.
Sweller and Sachs compliment Cramster's growing number of educational influencers, including Chairman Shai Reshef, who joined the team in September 2008 and is also Founder and President of the University of the People.
