On the day of the earthquake on January 17, 1994, there were 50 cardiac deaths in los Angeles county. The previous week in the same county there were 16.1 cardiac deaths per day.

A). Is the occurrence of 50 deaths unusual?
B). what is the maximal number of death that could have occurred on the day of the earthquake that would be consistent with the rate of cardiac death in the past week.
